Το Guiyu είναι μια μικρή πολή στη Κίνα με τα περισσότερα ηλεκτρονικά απόβλητα (e-waste) στη γη

Τα πλαστικά μέρη των ηλεκτρονικών αποβλήτων, και ειδικότερα των κουτιών των υπολογιστών, των οθονών, και των πλαστικών μερών των πληκτρολογίων, κ.α. όλα στέλνονται σε ένα από τα χωριά του Guiyu. Εκεί, τεμαχίζουν τα πλαστικά σε μικρά μέρη και έπειτα τα διαχωρίζουν χρωματικά ώστε να επιτευχθεί τήξη καθαρού χρώματος. Η επεξεργασία των ηλεκτρονικών αποβλήτων απασχολεί περίπου 150.000 άτομα. Ο μέσος μισθός είναι 1,20 ευρώ και ο μέσος όρος εργασίας είναι 16 ώρες την ημέρα. Συχνά, παιδιά απασχολούνται σε αυτήν την κουραστική εργασία.
